Biografia L'infanzia e le origini. Meredith Monk è nata il 20 novembre 1942 da Audrey Lois (Zellman) Monk e Theodore Glenn Monk a New York.Sua madre, cantante professionista conosciuta con il nome di scena di Audrey Marsh, era anch'essa figlia di musicisti professionisti: il baritono basso russo Joseph B. Zellman, e Rose (Kornicker) Zellman, una pianista di origine ebreo-tedesche di Filadelfia.
