En 1856, Victor Hugo publie Melancholia, poème en alexandrins, extrait de Les Contemplations. Dans ce poème, Hugo évoque le travail dur et pénible des enfants. Nous étudierons dans un premier temps l’exploitation des enfants de l’usine. Ensuite nous verrons en quoi ce poème fait part de sentiments, d’idées de justice et de liberté.
