  5. The 1923 is the first illustrated Moby Dick and the first in color published in the U.S. It is illustrated by Mead Schaeffer. The design of the Kent Moby Dick never made me want to read that copy. The Schaeffer illustrated copy makes you want to read it. I don't know why this edition isn't considered as collectible as the Kent edition.
