McDonald and Giles is an album released by British musicians Ian McDonald and Michael Giles in 1970. The album was first issued on Island Records (ILPS 9126) in the UK and Cotillion Records (SD 9042), a division of Atlantic Records , in the US.

He and McDonald recorded an album called McDonald and Giles, which was lighter in style than King Crimson, but still technically demanding. Giles then worked as a session player for the duration of the 1970s, appearing on albums by Anthony Phillips, Leo Sayer, and Kevin Ayers.
The release of Giles’ Progress album in 2002 coincided with the formation of the 21st Century Schizoid Band which included Ian McDonald, Giles’ brother Peter, Mel Collins, and then son-in-law, Jakko Jakszyk. 21 de mar. de 2015 · After their departure from King Crimson following the conclusion of the band’s first North American tour in 1969, multi-instrumentalist whiz Ian McDonald and drummer extraordinaire Michael Giles briefly formed their own band, appropriately named McDonald and Giles.

Alas, it turned out to be a one-off, McDonald going on to presumably make a shit-ton of money with (yecch) Foreigner, Giles to a long career as a session musician.
