Maurice Obstfeld is an economist who served as the Economic Counsellor and Director of Research at the International Monetary Fund from 2015 to 2018, on leave from the University of California, Berkeley. He is a leading expert on exchange rates, international financial crises, global capital markets, and monetary policy, and has co-authored two leading textbooks and many research articles.
