Paris, France – The wait is finally over and John Galliano is back, but with a new haute couture collection signed for Maison Martin Margiela.. Exceptionally staged in London this season instead of Paris, the scene at the show was serene, eerily calm but with a choking anticipation that nearly overwhelmed the air.

In a 2008 review of the fashion designer’s last official runway show, New York Times men’s fashion correspondent Eric Wilson aptly dubbed Margiela “Fashion’s Invisible Man.”

Martin Margiela. Director: Martin Margiela Spring Summer 2003. Belgian fashion designer famous for his eponymous fashion house in Paris. He grew up in Genk, the son of a Polish-born hairdresser, and graduated from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp in 1980. He worked as an assistant for Jean-Paul Gaultier in the 80s before launching his own fashion house, from which he retired in 2008.
