Marcus Cliffe (born 1962 in Leeds, Yorkshire, England) is an English professional musician, currently the bass player in The Manfreds, a reunion of members of the 1960s pop group Manfred Mann (minus Manfred Mann himself). [1]
Over the last couple of years Marcus has written the music for two award winning films - 'Eternities Sunrise' and 'Transcending the Storm' - from his Norbury Brook Studios, along with being Musical Director for Russel Oliver Stone.

Marcus Cliffe (Bass) Born in Leeds in 1962, Marcus studied piano from the age of nine. He started playing bass guitar/double bass in high school then went on to Leeds College of Music to study Jazz and Light Music as a pianist, but changed to bass after one year and graduated in 1983.
Ed Bicknell and Marcus Cliffe were also present. This was the last time that Clark played with Knopfler within a full band. In 1993, two shows were performed, both without Guy Fletcher. Band member Brendan Croker died due to complications from leukaemia on 10 September 2023, at the age of 70.

Marcus offers a sweet lyricism too, one that’s as modest as it is confident. You hear not just his voice, but his accent: a sure sign of authenticity. There’s jazz, rock, blues and a dash of delicate soul on show, but if you want a banner I’d plump for ‘Heart Music’.
