The saxophone and guitar heavy, ambient set captures the instrumental interplay and unique textural sounds for which Manzanera and Mackay have come to be known for.

Manzanera and MacKay have never done the expected. On this album they experiment, and it pays off. It is a fascinating musical excursion and an album that delivers something different every time it is heard. They have never really stopped finding new sounds over the past 50 years or so, but with AM.PM, the duo let their musical imaginations soar.
After Roxy Music's dissolution in 1983, Mackay joined with Roxy guitarist Phil Manzanera to form the Explorers, featuring Bryan Ferry-soundalike James Wraith on lead vocals. The group released a self-titled album in 1985 and three years later resurfaced as Manzanera and Mackay.

Phil Manzanera is a creative guitar legend of the very highest order and Andy Mackay remains arguably the most well-known and loved saxophone player outside of Mel Collins. With "Am.Pm.", they have created a rather exhilarating all-instrumental release that truly deserves more than cursory acknowledgement, perhaps even tossing in massive applause.
