Co-writer Marvin Etzioni also recorded his own version in 1992 for his album The Mandolin Man. Julie Miller covered the song on her 1994 album Invisible Girl. Australian sibling trio the Robertson Brothers released their version as a single in 1994, from their debut album Symmetry.
Born in Wytheville, Virginia, in 1935, Paul received a mandolin from his father before he was ten and was soon making music with a distant cousin, Jimmy Williams. Although Paul was born with the last name of Humphrey, he adopted the stage name of Williams so that he and Jimmy could be billed as the Williams Brothers.
Etzioni produced and wrote songs with the Williams Brothers (Andy Williams' nephews Andrew and David). Together with David Williams, Etzioni co-wrote " Can't Cry Hard Enough " which became his most successful song.
Etzioni recorded the song himself in 1992 and released it on his album The Mandolin Man.

The Williams Brothers is an American traditional black gospel music group from Jackson, Mississippi, they were formed in 1960 by Leon "Pop" Williams, who was the Williams' father, and early on the Williams' brother Frank Douglas was a member.

One of David’s piano chords I can’t quite figure out on mandolin, so I simplified it. David and I were on a songwriting binge. Song after song.
