Michael Bernard Bloomfield (July 28, 1943 – February 15, 1981) was an American blues guitarist and composer. Born in Chicago, he became one of the first popular music stars of the 1960s to earn his reputation almost entirely on his instrumental prowess, as he rarely sang before 1969. [1] .

Mike Bloomfield used mostly Fender Telecasters and Gibson Les Paul guitars. Most of his best recorded music seems to be using his 1954 Les Paul . But he can be seen playing other guitars including Strats and hollow-body Gibsons.
It also contains selections from Bloomfield's Fillmore West "jam" dates and a single tune from Janis Joplin's "Kozmic Blues" album that features Bloomfield's slide guitar.
