Malcolm Ian Logan AC (3 June 1931 – 17 September 2022) was an Australian geographer and university administrator. He was Vice-Chancellor of Monash University from 1987 to 1996. Logan grew up in country New South Wales, attending secondary school in the remote town of Tamworth.

Professor Mal Logan’s life started out small in every way. Raised by his father after his parents separated when he was just a toddler, he grew up in isolated villages in New South Wales, served by single teacher schools. It is not surprising that he became preoccupied with the “big picture”.
