Christian Dior nasce em Granville, Normandia, em 21 de janeiro, filho de Alexandre Louis Maurice Dior e Marie-Madeleine Dior (Martin sendo seu sobrenome de solteira), o segundo de cinco filhos. A família vive bem graças ao seu negócio de fabricação de fertilizantes e produtos químicos fundado em 1832.
