Vodden was a childhood friend of John Lennon’s four-year-old son Julian. Her maiden name was Lucy O’Donnell. One day in 1967, Julian brought home a drawing he had made at nursery school, of a girl surrounded by stars.

  7. 17 de nov. de 2009 · After many years, Julian and Lucy reconnected and found out she suffered from Lupus. While recording the song, Lucy passed away due to an infection related to the disease, in September of 2009. To honor Lucy's memory, bring awareness to Lupus, as well as honor the still living grandmother of Mr. Cook, Julian and James reworked the song and it became what it is.
