In 1921, while working as a sign painter, she discovered the photographs of Anne Brigman, a Pictorialist based in California and associated with the Stieglitz circle in New York.

Hace 5 días · Although Jean worked frequently with the photographers Louise Dahl-Wolfe and John Rawlings, Jean was most frequently associated with Irving Penn, especially after a 1949 photograph he took of her chewing pensively on a string of pearls as she sat in a cafe, a picture that came about spontaneously.
