13 de nov. de 2012 · Pero, dejando a un lado lado mi ensaltación hacia los fotógrafos del pasado y centrándonos en la luz, fue precisamente Louise Dahl-Wolfe la que comenzó con la llamada fotografía de moda medioambiental, es decir, que situaba a sus modelos en lugares abiertos. Sus sesiones más conocidas fueron hechas en América del Sur y África, trabajando con luz ambiente.
Louise Dahl-Wolfe: Painting with Light is a 1999 documentary film about Louise Dahl-Wolfe, an important woman in the history of photography.It was written and directed by Tom Neff, and produced by Neff and Madeline Bell, who previously collaborated on the Oscar nominated short-documentary Red Grooms: Sunflower in a Hothouse (1986).

Dahl-Wolfe’s earliest color images for Harper’s Bazaar appeared in 1937, making her one of the first fashion photographers to embrace the newly available Kodachrome film. She also proved among the most skilled practitioners of the medium. The artist credited her formal training in painting, color theory, and design with honing her eye for color and contrast.
