There's some kind of ant sand type stuff you can spread around your house that they dont like to cross. Maybe some kind of ground borax glass or something. I can't remember off hand. Anyway, once one comes in they use pheromone trails to communicate, so once one comes it basically sets up a trail for others to follow.
