Wilson Pickett (March 18, 1941 – January 19, 2006) was an American singer and songwriter. A major figure in the development of soul music, Pickett recorded over 50 songs which made the US R&B charts, many of which crossed over to the Billboard Hot 100.

Pickett was a product of the Southern black church, and gospel was at the core of his musical manner and onstage persona.
Singer and songwriter. Soul/Rhythm & Blues (R&B) singer Wilson Pickett was best known for such 1960s hits as "In the Midnight Hour" and "Mustang Sally." Known by the nickname "Wicked Pickett," he wrote or co-wrote many of his own songs.
