Horslips are an Irish Celtic rock band that compose, arrange and perform songs frequently inspired by traditional Irish airs, jigs and reels. The group are regarded as "founding fathers of Celtic rock" for their fusion of traditional Irish music with rock music and went on to inspire many local and international acts.
Horslips is an Irish band that combined rock, folkrock and light progressive rock. On 'The Book of Invasions' the band clearly sets out tot create an ambitious progressive rock album, but yet it lacks any layered depths.
Horslips Live showcases a somewhat rockier side of Horslips than can be found on their studio albums from this period. It contains lively and energetic performances of a good selection of tracks from their early albums and as such it is an excellent addition to any Prog (Folk) collection.
