No longer “a cunt in a clown suit”, he was tanned, with a blond quiff and dangerous white teeth, singing an accessible, danceable pop classic.
Let's Dance is the 15th studio album by the English singer-songwriter David Bowie, released on 14 April 1983 through EMI America Records. Co-produced by Bowie and Nile Rodgers, the album was recorded in December 1982 at the Power Station in New York City.
Bernard Edwards (October 31, 1952 – April 18, 1996) was an American bass player and record producer, known primarily for his work in disco music with guitarist Nile Rodgers, with whom he co-founded Chic. In 2017, Edwards was selected as the 53rd greatest bassist of all time by Bass Player magazine.
Rodgers co-produced David Bowie's 1983 album Let's Dance and was also responsible largely for the early success of Madonna during 1984 with her Like a Virgin album, which again reunited Rodgers, Thompson, and Edwards, with keyboardist Rob Sabino and collaborators Jeff Bova, Jimmy Bralower and Oren Bar.

Co-produced by Chic’s Nile Rodgers, it contained the hit singles ‘Let’s Dance’, ‘China Girl’ and ‘Modern Love’. It’s kind of a mixed bag, really. And – not for any elitist reason – (laughter) there are no synthesizers on it.
