  2. 15 de abr. de 2020 · Leonora Piper was considered legitimate. For more than 40 years, Piper, a famous Boston medium, had captivated the psychic world. She had performed more than a thousand sittings and was probably the most investigated medium in the history of spiritualism. But then, in the mid 1920s, she disappeared with her two daughters.

  3. Although many mediums seemed obviously fraudulent, Leonora Piper truly seemed able to transmit communications from the dead. For James, she was the “white crow” that proved not all crows were black. Piper became central to the ASPR’s investigations, conducted mostly by British researcher Richard Hodgson .

  6. 13 de mar. de 2017 · Leonora Piper (then Simonds) was born on June 27, 1857 and raised in Nashua, New Hampshire. It was there, in her family garden, that she supposedly had her first encounter with the supernatural. She later recounted the experience of something very odd — it was as if someone or something had struck her on the side of the head.

  7. By 1915, plagued by ill health, she found that she could once again conduct some automatic writing, but was unable to fall into a trance. Leonora Piper died in 1950, at the age of 93, still quietly working as a private medium, but no longer at the height of her powers.
