Alvin's last show, the Rib and Blues Festival in Holland on 28th May 2012, turned out to be a breathtaking display of pure genius by a musician at the peak of his career. Arguably, it was probably Alvin's best ever live performance.

Lee's last album, Still on the Road to Freedom, was released in September 2012. Death. Lee died on 6 March 2013 in Spain. He died from "unforeseen complications following a routine surgical procedure" to correct an atrial arrhythmia. He was 68. His former bandmates lamented his death.
