Shakespeare's King Lear reminds me of Beckett, Jarri and Jodorowski. To me, it invites absurdist fantasies and endless visual possibilities. It's puzzling to me, why this flawlessly cast version decided to go with the most unimaginative approach possible. It looks and feels like the TV special it is.
