King Ecgbert School is a large 11-18 secondary school of roughly 1450 students, including a sixth form of around 380 students. Our school is situated in Dore in the south-west of Sheffield, close to the Peak District.
King Ecgbert School is a co-educational secondary school with academy status (age range 11–18) in the village of Dore in the south-west of Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England. The headteacher (from January 2017) is Paul Haigh.

Ecgberht (770/775 – 839), also spelled Egbert, Ecgbert, Ecgbriht, Ecgbeorht, and Ecbert, was King of Wessex from 802 until his death in 839. His father was King Ealhmund of Kent.
