En 1977 John Wetton y Bill Bruford (ex- King Crimson) trabajan en la formación de un nuevo grupo, UK. Para ello cuentan con Eddie Jobson y con el guitarrista Allan Holdsworth (Soft Machine, Gong). Con esta formación editan su primer disco en 1978, una grabación cargada con temas progresivos con el toque dulzón de la voz de Wetton.
