Savoy Brown was formed in 1965 by guitarist Kim Simmonds in London, England. Simmonds has been the group’s guiding hand from the first singles released in 1966 through the band’s newest effort, their forty-first album “Ain’t Done Yet” to be released August 28, 2020. Energetic blues has been the calling card of the band from the beginning.

3 de sept. de 2017 · Many consider that the recordings featuring Chris Youlden’s rich vocals and songwriting augmented by Kim Simmonds’s jazz-tinged, fluent blues guitar, were Savoy Brown’s finest work; this being especially so on such late-1960s cuts as “She’s Got a Ring in His Nose and a Ring on Her Hand” (a classy swing-blues) and the completely different and desolate groove of “Mr. Downchild.”
Born in Newbridge, Wales in 1947, Kim Maiden Simmonds grew up on music ranging from the Beatles to James Brown thanks to an older brother. Still in his teens, he formed the Savoy Brown Blues Band in 1965 with harmonica player John O'Leary, singer Bruce Portius, keyboardist Trevor Jeavons, bassist Ray Chappell, and drummer Leo Manning.
