This line-up included Kevyn Gammond on guitar and Paul Lockey on bass. Their brand of soul and blues was popular with Birmingham mods . This line-up recorded a number of demo recordings in early 1968, but broke up in May 1968 when a recording contract failed to materialise.

Kevyn Gammond lead guitar, vocal Paul Lockey bass guitar, vocal. As one of the most significant groups in West Midlands rock music history, "The Band of Joy" have a complex story with changing line-ups, having at one time two versions of the group active at the same time!
The 1977 lineup consisted of Kevyn Gammond and Paul Lockey on vocals and guitars, John Pasternak on vocals and bass, Michael Chetwood on vocals and keyboards, and Peter Robinson on drums. They produced two albums which went on to define the trademark cult sound of the band. They played blue hooks and experimentation with new sounds.
The label was founded in 2001 by Kevyn Gammond who was a founder member of the Band of Joy alongside Robert Plant and Jimmy Page who went on to form Led Zeppelin. Gammond worked with Jimmy Cliff and Jess Roden (among others) which led him to tour with The Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix and The Who.
