Hatch is the son of composer and Disney percussionist Earl Hatch and Disney percussionist Carol Hatch (née Culp). He is best known for his role as the original bass guitarist in the '80s new wave band Oingo Boingo, which he was part of from 1979 to 1984.

Mar 24, 2015. Portland, Oregon. Hey TalkBass, One of my favorite bassists is Kerry Hatch of early Oingo Boingo. His playing is zainy and inventive and his tone is phenomenal. I guess my main question is what would you recommend to get his tone/feel? I’ve trolled through the forums and have found little on Kerry which is disappointing.
