Sir Kenneth MacMillan (11 December 1929 [citation needed] – 29 October 1992) was a British ballet dancer and choreographer who was artistic director of the Royal Ballet in London between 1970 and 1977, and its principal choreographer from 1977 until his death.

Kenneth MacMillan was the leading ballet choreographer of his generation, who created some of the outstanding dance works of the twentieth century. He was born in a poor Scottish family and became director of The Royal Ballet in 1970. He choreographed ballets that reflect contemporary realities and the complicated truths of people’s lives, such as The Sleeping Beauty, Romeo and Juliet, and Manon.
