R.I.P. Kenneth "Wally" Kelly of the Manhattans. (February 18, 2015) In a year that has been filled with sad news for the millions of fans of the singing group The Manhattans, we have another piece: Kenneth "Wally" Kelly, the last surviving founding member of the group, has died.
Kenneth "Wally" Kelly, the last surviving original member of the group, died on February 17, 2015, at the age of 74. Lead singer Gerald Alston is the only member alive of the group's heyday lineup. David Tyson, a member of The Manhattans featuring Gerald Alston died of an illness on February 17, 2022, at the age of 62. Discography
Sadly, in December of 2014, both Blue Lovett and Sonny Bivins died, and original member Kenny "Wally" Kelly soon after, leaving Gerald Alston as the lone surviving member of the most popular version of The Manhattans. He continues to perform with Tyson and May to this day, still sounding fantastic. By Chris Rizik
KENNETH “WALLY” KELLY Kenneth Bernard Kelly (tenor) was born on January 9 in 1941 in Jersey City to Eloise and Lloyd Kelly. Kenny: “My parents are both deceased. My mother belonged to a chorus, when she was younger. She sang in a church choir.” Besides one brother, Adonis, Kenny has three step-brothers and a sister.

11 de dic. de 2014 · The Manhattans were formed in the early 60s in New Jersey as a quintet led by writer/bass vocalist Winfred “Blue” Lovett and emotive lead singer George Smith, along with Edward “Sonny” Bivins, Richard “Ricky” Taylor and Kenneth “Wally” Kelly, all of whom had just returned from service in the armed forces.
