In an interview with Jack Blades, he revealed that the song was inspired by his own relationship struggles.

4 de may. de 2024 · Drummer Kelly Keagy wrote the song for his little sister Christy, lamenting how fast she was growing up. According to Keagy, bassist Jack Blades misheard the lyric as “Sister Christian” instead of “Christy,” and the band decided that the misheard lyric worked better.
