Jungle Jim & The Voodoo Tiger is a set of songs that Dickinson has collected over the years in, as he puts it, "the jukebox of my mind," plus some new songs by writers he greatly admires. Backing is by sons Cody (drums) and Luther (guitar) of North Mississippi Allstars fame, along with Alvin Youngblood Hart (guitar).

If 2002’s Free Beer Tomorrow, Jim Dickinson’s “follow-up” to his 1971 solo debut Dixie Fried, sounded like a well-conceived showcase for his favorite mostly-obscure songs, this one sounds more like one man’s quickly-tossed-off, romping, stomping homage to southern music.
His sons, Luther and Cody, who played on his 2002 solo album Free Beer Tomorrow and the 2006 album Jungle Jim and the Voodoo Tiger, have achieved success on their own as the North Mississippi Allstars. Dickinson also made a recording with Pete (Sonic Boom) Kember of Spacemen 3.
