Dr. Julia Yasuda, an intersex activist, professor, and artist known for her work with pre- ANOHNI act Antony and the Johnsons, has passed away. She was 75 years old. Per a biography on Antony and the Johnsons’ website, Yasuda was born in a hermaphroditic condition in Manchuria in 1943.

Artist ANOHNI presents a mixed media exhibit: SHE WHO SAW BEAUTIFUL THINGS. The installation includes a series of portraits honoring ANOHNI’s former collaborator Dr. Julia Yasuda, taken by Julia’s late wife Erika Yasuda in Tokyo in the early 1980s, and exhibited here for the first time.
