Judith Ann Jamison (pronounced JAM-ih-son) (born May 10, 1943) is an American dancer and choreographer. She is the artistic director emerita of Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater.
Judith Jamison, American modern dancer whose elegant, striking presence helped make her an immediate success with Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater. Ailey choreographed Cry expressly for Jamison, and it became her signature piece. Jamison later became the artistic director of the company.
