A fourth Des Moines band called Vexx played death metal with Anders Colsefni on drums, Paul Gray on bass, and Josh Brainard on guitar and vocals. Colsefni later took over vocal duties, but Vexx never recorded.

Anders Colsefni left in 1997 and was replaced by Corey Taylor , who the band had met when they faced off against Stone Sour in a Battle Of The Bands contest.
