She married political activist Jon Rubin in 1999, and their child Soph, was born in the autumn of 2004. The couple divorced in 2008 and Ormond lives in Malibu, California.
History. 1970–1977: Formation and The Rubinoos. In November 1970, Tommy Dunbar and Jon Rubin formed the Rubinoos to play at a dance for Bay High School in Berkeley, California. Other founding members included Greg 'Curly' Keranen, Alex Carlin, Ralph Granich and Danny Wood.
In 1999, she married a second time to political activist Jon Rubin. They had one daughter, Sophie, before their divorce. On a political front, Julia has been involved fighting human trafficking since the mid-1990s. In 2005, she was appointed United Nations Goodwill Ambassador with a focus on anti-human-trafficking initiatives and awareness.
Professor of Art. Jon Rubin is an interdisciplinary artist who creates interventions into public life that reimagine individual, group, and institutional behavior. Projects include Conflict Kitchen (2010-17), The Last Billboard (2010-18), The Royal Danish Protesters (2011), and The Independent School of Art (2004-06).
