Johnny and the Moon is a Canadian indie rock band based in Shawnigan Lake, British Columbia. The band is fronted by Dante DeCaro of Hot Hot Heat and Wolf Parade and also includes Lindy Gerrard, Mark Devoe, and Jeff "Big Juicy Papa" Phillips.
Johnny and the Moondogs were a short lived pre-cursor to The Beatles active for three months between August and November 1959. With George Harrison being 16, and Ken Brown being 19 at the time, it is the last 'Beatles' lineup to feature all teenagers.

For the audition, the group changed their name to Johnny and the Moondogs. Lennon was without a guitar, his having broken recently. Johnny and the Moondogs passed the first heat of the competition in Liverpool, and were invited to appear in the finals in Manchester.
