7 de abr. de 2023 · Johnny Thunders, born John Anthony Genzale, Jr (July 15, 1952 - April 23, 1991), was a rock and roll guitarist and singer, first with the New York Dolls, the proto-punk glam rockers of the early '70s.During the late '70s, he was a familiar figure on the New York punk scene, both with The Heartbreakers and as a solo artist.
Johnny Thunders urodził się i wychowywał w Jackson Heights (w nowojorskiej dzielnicy Queens) w rodzinie włoskich katolików przybyłych wcześniej do USA z Avellino. Jako nastolatek lubił grać w baseballa, lecz nie został przyjęty do drużyny z powodu swoich długich włosów, których nie chciał obciąć.
Thunders, newyorkilainen, amerikanitalialaisen perheen poika, aloitti rockuransa kouluikäisenä Johnny and the Jaywalkers -nimisessä yhtyeessä, jolloin hän kutsui itseään vielä nimellä Johnny Volume.
