Buddy Guy avec Eric Clapton en 2007. En 1989, Buddy ouvre son club Buddy Guy's Legends à Chicago. Au début des années 1990 poussé par un renouveau du blues aux États-Unis et en Europe, il sort un album qui relance sa carrière : Damn right, I've got the blues en compagnie de Mark Knopfler, Jeff Beck et Eric Clapton.
Early life Guy at the Monterey Jazz Festival, 1992. George "Buddy" Guy was born and raised in Lettsworth, Louisiana. He was the first of five children to parents Sam and Isabel, who were sharecroppers, and as a child, Guy would pick cotton for $2.50 per 100 pounds.His brother Phil Guy was also a blues musician. He began learning to play the guitar using a two-string diddley bow he made.

17 de oct. de 2023 · Buddy signed a deal with Chess records in 1959 however many feel the label’s conservative tendencies held Buddy back in his formative years. Whilst his live performances were known for their passion and ferocity, Chess label founder described Guy’s playing as noise and did not release it as it should have been.
