John Kenneth Wetton (12 June 1949 – 31 January 2017) was an English musician, singer and songwriter. [1] Although he was left handed he was known as a dexterous right handed bass player and had a booming baritone voice [2] Wetton joined the band Family in 1971 for a short time before joining King Crimson in 1972. [3]

John Wetton, the bassist and singer who co-founded the Eighties prog rock supergroup Asia and served in King Crimson, has died of colon cancer. He was 67. The musician, who also played with Roxy Music, Brian Eno and Uriah Heep, was known for his gentle voice and innovative style. He was preparing reissues of his solo catalog and preparing for a tour with Asia.
