6 de may. de 2024 · John Mayall is a British singer, organist, and occasional guitarist who was among the guiding lights of the British blues movement in the early to mid-1960s. Always a popular performer, Mayall is nevertheless more celebrated for the musicians he attracted into his band, the Bluesbreakers.
John Mayall, OBE (Most Excellent Order of the British Empire) (born 29 November 1933, Macclesfield, Cheshire, England) is an English blues singer, guitarist, organist and songwriter, whose musical career spans over fifty years. He is the brother of Rod Mayall and former spouse of Maggie Mayall.
For over 50 years, John Mayall has served as a pioneer of blues music, rightly earning him the title, "The Godfather of British Blues". In 2013, John signed with producer Eric Corne's label, Forty Below Records, and has since been experiencing a true artistic and career renaissance, including a Blues Hall of Fame induction in 2015.
John Manchesterben képzőművészeti főiskolát végzett. 1953–1954-ben részt vett a koreai háborúban. 1956-ban alakította meg első együttesét, Powerhouse Four néven, majd 1961-ben a másodikat: Blues Syndicate. 1963-ban hozta létre a John Mayall's Bluesbreakerst, mely az évek során számos tagcserén, feloszlatáson és újrakezdésen át fennmaradt, végül 2008-ban feloszlott.

Mayall lured a crack squad of jazz cats into the fold – including guitarist Freddy Robinson and trumpeter Blue Mitchell – but this live album is anything but po-faced muso pseudery.
