John Horsley. Actor. Born July 21, 1920 in Westcliff-on-Sea, Essex, England, UK. John made his acting debut at the Theatre Royal, Bournemouth. After spending a year in various reps. including Hastings, Watford and Eastbourne, he was conscripted into the Devon Yeomanry during the war and served in Italy and Sicily, but contracted hepatitis.

4 de dic. de 2016 · The world’s first commercially produced Christmas card, designed by John Callcott Horsley for Henry Cole in 1843. The central picture of the card showed three generations of a family raising toast to the card’s recipient. On either side of the card were scenes of charity, with food and clothing being given to the poor.
John Calcott Horsley was the nephew of the landscape painter Augustus Wall Callcott and was educated at the Royal Academy. The famous Victorian engineer Isambard Kingdom Brunel was Horsley's brother-in-law. Horsley began his career as a portrait artist but later painted frescoes for the Houses of Parliament. His style was influenced by 17th century Dutch painting.
