John Hemmings (also spelled Hemings) (1776 – 1833) was an American woodworker. Born into slavery at Thomas Jefferson 's Monticello as a member of the large mixed-race Hemings family, he trained in the Monticello Joinery and became a highly skilled carpenter and woodworker, making furniture and crafting the fine woodwork of the interiors at Monticello and Poplar Forest .

John Heminges (1566—1630) editor of Shakespeare's first folio Quick Reference (1566–1630), and (d. 1627), were fellow actors of Shakespeare and joint editors of the First Folio of his plays (1623). Heming is said to have been the first player of Falstaff.

Along with Richard Burbage, they were added to the latest draft of his will and bequeathed 26s 8d each (one mark) to buy mourning rings. Shakespeare refers to them there as ‘my fellows’; all three men had sons named William.
