John Creasey MBE (17 September 1908 – 9 June 1973) was an English author known mostly for detective and crime novels but who also wrote science fiction, romance and westerns. He wrote more than six hundred novels using twenty-eight different pseudonyms.

John Creasey (September 17, 1908 - June 9, 1973) was born in Southfields, Surrey, England and died in New Hall, Bodenham, Salisbury Wiltshire, England. He was the seventh of nine children in a working class home. He became an English author of crime thrillers, published in excess of 600 books under 20+ different pseudonyms.
The book series featuring Dr Palfrey comprised of a total of 34 novels between the years 1942 and 1979. In the year 1962, author Creasey received an Edgar Award in the category of the Best Novel for his book titled Gideon’s Fire. This was followed by a Grand Master Award in the year 1969.
