Joe Puerta (born July 2, 1951) is the bassist/vocalist and founder of the American rock group Ambrosia. He co-wrote one of the band's early hits, "Holdin' On To Yesterday" (1975). Puerta was a touring member (bass/vocals) of the bands for Chi Coltrane, Laura Branigan, and Sheena Easton.
Joe Puerta became a founding member of Bruce Hornsby and the Range. In 1989, Ambrosia reunited with all four original members and began playing live shows again, mostly on the West Coast. They expanded their touring ranks once again with Tollak Ollestad (vocals, keyboards, harmonica) and Shem von Schroeck (vocals, percussion, bass, guitar).
