Joseph Bartlett Choynski ( / ˈtʃɔɪnski /; November 8, 1868 – January 24, 1943) was an American boxer who fought professionally from 1888 to 1904. [1] Boxing career. "Chrysanthemum Joe", the son of a Jewish Polish immigrant who settled in California in 1867, weighed no more than 176 lb (80 kg) throughout his career but regularly fought heavyweights.
"Marvin Hart and Joe Choyinski (sic) went six rounds to a draw at the Washington Sporting Club. The bout was a fast one, both men taking severe punishment and both bleeding freely at the close." (Daily Herald) The Philadelphia Item reported that Hart was the winner.

Having posthumously achieved the highest honor in the sport, he is now rightfully included on any list of the greatest Jewish prizefighters of all time and no doubt deserves ranking alongside the hardest punchers in heavyweight history.
