The Jeff Beck Group was formed by Jeff Beck in London in January 1967 after his departure from The Yardbirds in November 1966. Despite a constantly changing lineup, which at one time included vocalist Rod Stewart, guitarist Ronnie Wood, and pianist Nicky Hopkins, the group's unique approach to blues and rock had a lasting impact on popular music.

Managé par Peter Grant, le Jeff Beck Group se fait un nom sur les scènes américaines au cours de l'année 1968 et publie son premier album, Truth, au mois d'août.
