Jean Frances Speegle Howard (January 31, 1927-September 2, 2000) is an American actress who acted primarily in film and on television. She starred in the 1996 film Matilda as the librarian, Mrs. Phelps. On September 2, 2000, Howard died in Los Angeles, California of heart and respiratory illness.

1 de mar. de 2021 · Howard was born in Duncan, Oklahoma, the son of Jean Speegle Howard, an actress, and Rance Howard, a director, writer, and actor. His family moved to Burbank, California in 1958, the year before the birth of his younger brother, Clint Howard. Howard graduated from John Burroughs High School, and later attended the University of Southern California's School of Cinematic Arts but did not graduate.
