Recorded May 5, 2022. James Charles McConville [1] (born March 16, 1959) [1] is a retired United States Army general who served as the 40th chief of staff of the Army from 2019 to 2023. [2] [3] He previously served as the 36th vice chief of staff of the Army from 2017 to 2019.
