Early life. Reitman was born in Montreal, Quebec, the son of Geneviève Robert, an actress sometimes billed as Geneviève Deloir, and Slovak-Jewish film director Ivan Reitman (1946–2022). Reitman has two younger sisters: Catherine Reitman, an actress, producer and writer, who is three years younger, and Caroline Reitman, a nurse, who is twelve years younger.

Ivan Reitman, OC (Komárno, 27 de outubro de 1946 — Montecito, 12 de fevereiro de 2022) foi um cineasta, roteirista, produtor, ator e dublador eslovaco, radicado no Canadá. Foi proprietário da The Montecito Picture Company, fundada em 1998.
Ivan Reitman werd net na de Tweede Wereldoorlog geboren in het destijds Tsjecho-Slowaakse Komárno als de zoon van Klara en Ladislav Reitman. Zijn ouders waren joods. Zijn moeder overleefde het concentratiekamp van Auschwitz en zijn vader was een verzetsstrijder. [1] [2] Gedurende de jaren 1950 verhuisde hij met zijn familie naar Canada.
