He has since released two solo albums under the name "O'Ryan" (his mother's maiden name), 1993's Something Strong and 1995's Initiate. [2] Spence secured a job lecturing music industry topics at Walsall College of Arts and Technology in the mid-1990s while hitting hard times musically.

Hope you've already listened his first album "Something Strong" posted in this humble site near 2 years ago. A real classic AOR gem. Talented musician, arranger and producer, also founder of FACE FACE (one of the best AOR outfits of the 90's).

6 de oct. de 2003 · Very strong release. Superb vocals from Mervyn Spence (who went on to form the excellent Face Face) and a set of excellent material, some of which appeared on the debut 'Phenomena' cd. Well worth tracking down if the lighter side of AOR is your Thaannng!!.
24 de jul. de 2023 · It’s also mostly been repackaged from his 1995 solo release ‘Initiate’ and rebranded to further cash in on his links with the Phenomena brand. Since few people heard or cared about ‘Initiate’ back in the day, that’s Merv’s prerogative – he owns the material, after all – but…is it any good?
